He just gets cuter and plumper every week... and has certainly found his tongue.

BugFest

We ventured to Raleigh this weekend for BugFest. It was a lot of fun, but we didn't spend that much time looking at any bugs. We spent the majority of the time listening to a band and running around in the lawn. Here is Mr. Beckett hamming it up for the camera. This was one of the 3 mins he was sitting down.

And, although the BugFest was focused on the live type of bugs - they did have a few dead VWs there too. This one was upside down and available for the kids to play in and around.

Derek is always telling me that Beckett and I have the same "jowls" (aka cheeks). But, he definitely has Derek's bottom lip. You judge for yourself.

Recent Weeks

We are now into our 3rd month with baby Thomsen. He had his second month check-up and shots this week. He is 13 lbs 4 oz and 24" long. That is 85th % for both height and weight. Just a tad smaller than his brother, but he is definitely catching up.

He is starting to show his little personality - definitely super cute! He has found his tongue and his smile. You can entertain yourself for awhile just having him mimic you.

My mom and dad came up for the day on Saturday. We had a good time at Marbles with the boys. Here they are in the cone window.

Happy Birthday to Derek! I made a Tiramisu cake for him. I think this makes up for the gross cupcakes he posted on his Facebook page.

Derek, however, wasn't able to make a wish and blow out his candles because someone else beat him to the punch.

Last weekend, Derek's friend Molly came over to meet Thomsen. She and her husband gave Beckett a gift certificate to Toys R Us to help lighten the impact of the new baby. After spending the better part of an hour playing with many of the toys, this is what we took home. He hasn't put it down since. He loves anything to do with music!

Happy 1 month birthday to baby Thomsen. He did great at the doctor today. We found out he is growing like a weed:

• Weight - 10lb 6.5 oz (75%)
• Height - 23 in (92%)
  

We have been doing well - sleeping, eating, etc. One small issue: Thomsen doesn't seem to get the point of tummy time. We will need to try another exercise for the neck strengthening ...

Everyone is asking for more pictures. We are happy to oblige, but the narration is going to be lacking. We are doing well, just trying to adjust to the new schedule. I forgot how taxing it is to need to feed the little one every couple hours

"Real" Pictures

After 1 1/2 years of no formal pictures, we broke down and got "real" Beckett pictures done today. During the session, we were pretty sure we weren't getting any good takes. Beckett didn't want to sit still, smile, or even really look at the photographer. Basically, he wanted to act like a 2 year old - go figure. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We ended up with many more then we thought. Here are a couple. Good job picture lady!!

Outside, finally.

We have enjoyed the last week of healthy Beckett. We had about 2 full weeks of everything from GI viruses to perforated ear drums, but (knock on wood) we are doing well now. We have also had an unusually long and cold winter; however, yesterday the temperature got into the 50's. We took this opportunity to stop by the park and play outside for a little bit. As always, Beckett enjoyed himself on the slides.

Beckett has started talking a lot more and also is into reciting his numbers and letters. They don't always come out in the right order, but we are getting there. He does do a good job of repeating, though - you can see that in the video.

Modern Comfort

A little while ago, Derek thought it would be cool to buy Beckett his own TV chair. You know, the kind that a guy claims as his own and no one else would dare occupy. The chair that only the owner respects and appreciates. The chair that most women secretly desire to sell in the next yard sale... well, I think Beckett has really figured this one out. In other words, I don't think we are going to be getting rid of this chair any time soon.

White Christmas in TX?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! We spent a great holiday week with our family in TX. Here a few pictures of the experience.

Beckett loves putting hats on his head. But, he also needs to make sure he isn't missing any more presents from any stocking big or small.

Due to the snow, we had to improvise the traditional reading of the Night Before Christmas. We didn't let that stop us - Zachary and Hayden listened to Pap Pap on the phone. This picture was obviously taken towards the beginning of the story because Beckett's patience only lasted for about 75% of the book. Not bad for a 20 month old, right?
You can never go wrong with dino nuggets! Thanks Gamma. Maybe next year I will learn to love the Pull Apart Bracken breakfast tradition.
