We made it -- One Month!!

We had our one month appointment this week. Beckett certainly is a strong, healthy, little guy. Here are the stats:

Weight -- 11 lbs 5 oz
Length -- 23 1/4 in
Head circumference -- 40 cm

Beckett is in the 90th percentile or greater for each of the categories. According to the doctor, Beckett is the size of an average 3 month old. He said that an average baby should be gaining about 1/2 oz -1 oz per day. Considering this rate, Beckett should have gained about 24 ounces since his 1 week appointment. However, he has gained 45 ounces... Almost double the norm!! The kid is definitely not starving.

Now, since he is over 11 lbs we were told he is big enough to sleep through the night. Stay tuned for the update on that.

My Play Mat

Beckett has started using his play mat on a daily basis. Although he can't quite understand all of the functions, he has taken a liking to the mirror. Looks like he really does take after his mom...

Our first babies, Emma and Ziggy, have been taking more of an interest in our newest arrival. They are starting to try to sneak the occasional kiss



But, Emma still believes that she may be able to ignore by "Hearing no evil,

seeing no evil,

and smelling no evil..."

I Love My Daddy!

Derek has finally finished his classes for the semester and is going to be taking the summer off to spend time with us. He will also be taking care of Beckett when I have to go back to work in July until his Fall Semester begins.

It is definitely nice to have an extra pair of hands around the house so we can take turns changing, burping, sleeping, etc... And, as you can see, Beckett is enjoying his time with his daddy!!

My first real bath!!

This weekend we progressed from the sponge bath to the "real" baby bath tub. Good thing the tub has the little hammock to keep the baby from slipping and sliding all over because Mom and Dad don't have much experience holding a slippery naked baby.


And, although, Dad thinks that Mom tried to burn poor Beckett with the hot water, we all survived. Here he is all nice and cuddled after the experience. (Note: I think it was much more traumatic for the parents than it was for baby - he didn't even cry, and look how happy he is as we are dressing him).

• Birth Weight -- 8 lbs 11 oz - 75th percentile
• Birth Length -- 22 inches long -- above 97th percentile
• Head Circumference -- 37 cm -- 75th percentile

We are officially entering the 21st century and trying our hand at "blogging." I can't promise genius or any creative awards for pictures or text. Set all expectations very low. This is our attempt to allow all who are interested in watching the daily (or more likely weekly or even greater) adventures of Beckett get their fill of his cuteness without burdening those who don't want the multiple emails full of pictures cluttering their inboxes.
